Hugh Mungus What?????!!?!?!!??!?!
The video recorded by Zarna Joshi can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzA4dCT4X0I
Zarna Joshi is the person behind the camera in the video, in which you see her attacking a man for making a joke and attacking cops because they had apparently assaulted her. Zarna Joshi is a social justice warrior, black lives matter activist, feminist, and an anti-blue activist. For those of you who don't know what those are, I will provide you with the definitions.
Social Justice Warrior:an individual promoting socially progressive views, including feminism, civil rights, multiculturalism, and identity politics
Black Lives Matter Activist: campaigner against violence and systemic racism toward black people
Feminist: those who participate and believe in a range of political movements, ideologies, and social movements which share a common goal: to define, establish, and achieve political, economic, personal, and social rights for women
Anti-Blue Activist: a person against the law enforcement of today's society, as they believe that the law enforcement is corrupt
JOKINGLYFrom what she believes in and fights for, you would assume that Joshi is a great person, but based off of the video, the opposite is apparent. The video starts out with Joshi recording a man(name unknown) and she proceeds to talk to him. He asks her if she wants his name which she replies yes to, and he responds with the name, Hugh Mungus. Immediately after his response, she starts asking him "Hugh Mungus what???", a question that he obviously has no response to as the original "Hugh Mungus" was just a joke. To blow it out of proportion, she starts screaming to get everyone's attention, saying that she had been sexually harrassed and assaulted by the one and only, Hugh Mungus. She continues to do so for the next couple of minutes, screaming at the top of her lungs to get help from spectators, as she was apparently being sexually harassed by a man who was attempting to get away from her as he was terrified of what she was. She later tries to get help from security and the police whom she called useless, even though the man did nothing to harm her in the first place. She continues to scream but this, it was about the cops and security. Afterwards, the group of security somewhere to go and asked her politely to move, which she obviously said no to. The security officers then nudge her in attempt to move her so they could get past, which causes her to start screaming again, saying she had been assaulted by security. In my eyes, Joshi is just someone who is hungry for attention that hates men. In our society, there is a major problem with females being sexually harassed and assaulted but many of the times, the victims are not believed. Joshi is one of the main reasons why this happens. Because of people like her, people who actually suffer sexual assault and sexual harassment are shrugged off. Many of the victims aren't believed because people like Joshi blow such tiny things out of proportion claiming that she had been sexually harassed and attacked by a man, when in reality, nothing had actually happened to her. Another belief that Joshi has, is that cops are useless and corrupt. You can easily see her beliefs being translated into actions during the video. She thinks that society would be better without them, as they are sexist pigs who are corrupt and do nothing to help people. Not only is this illogical, but it is extremely biased. Without cops, there would be nothing to discourage criminals from committing crimes; there would be no one to protect us from the dangerous people. Another thing I noticed is that Joshi seemed surprised and angry at the fact that security and the cops refused to help her,(because there wasn't a problem in the first place)but she still got angry. Why would someone who already believes and accepts that cops don't help people be mad when the cops end up not helping them?
Progress: In this blog post, I was biased and wrote about my opinions. I was able to further develop my voice and my beliefs, which will help my on future assessments and essays. With this blog post, I was able to practice defending my point and what I believed in, which will slowly develop a unique voice that I'll be able to use in future assignments.
Reflection: In the end, I was only mildly satisfied with this blog post, but that is currently okay, as I'm still working towards my goal. My writing had always seemed dull and bland and I believe that writing about what I believe in and writing in this opinionated way will slowly help me develop a voice for myself. I want to be able to write with a voice that is noticeably different from others and I feel like this blog post has helped me take a step towards that goal.
