NOTE : I am not a Trump supporter, I am simply keeping an open mind towards this topic.

After the presidential election of 2016, Barack Obama, an outstanding and influential president was succeeded by Donald Trump. Many of the citizens in the United States are "fearing for their lives" due to the election of Trump.

We have already seen from many of his speeches and tweets that he has no respect for women and hates illegal immigrants, as he wants to deport all of the ones he can find. Trump also seems to hate Muslims and sees all of them as dangerous, but we will come back to that later. It is perfectly normal for Muslims to be scared because of his election, as he will actually take action against them, but why are Hispanics and women scared? Society is overreacting to the election of Trump. Trump disliking Hispanics and women are just his own opinions, he has never planned anything against either group, nor will he be able to, but people still seem to believe that the election of Trump greatly puts their lives in danger. As for Hispanics, Trump has stated many times, he is only deporting ILLEGAL immigrants. Anyone who is a verified citizen is completely safe. As for Muslims, Trump seems to not trust this particular race. Again, many people have exaggerated and bent his words to their own will on social media, making comparisons between Trump and Hitler, as they state that he wants all Muslims to wear I.D. badges which bares a striking resemblance to the stars that Jews had to wear. Of course, this sent the public and the media into a frenzy as people were stating that Trump, the equivalent of Hitler, is now president of the United States, but they were misinformed. The only thing Trump had stated, was that he wanted all Muslims to register in a database so he can keep track of them, as he is paranoid of terrorist attacks.

Although I make it seem as if there is nothing wrong with his presidency, there are obviously, many problems with him being our president. First of all, even though Trump himself isn't able to enforce anything towards women, Hispanics, or Muslims, Trump is still the role model of the United States. People look up to him. If he hates on these certain group of people, many will follow in his path and think the same way he does, believing that they are able to hate on these groups freely. Secondly, Trump is a businessman, not a politician. All his life, Trump has work with money and has no experience with politics. This is something to bring up, as Trump could possibly pass things to help himself(moneywise) and hurt others in our community; Trump also has little experience, which would be an issue once he is faced with problems that he has to deal with during his presidency.

Progress: Once again, writing this type of blog helps me open up to things that I myself might not support. It helps me work towards keeping an open mind and analyze things from both perspectives so I can fully understand the entire situation. Within this blog post, I inform readers of some misconceptions about Trump.

Reflection: I am not that happy with this post, but it is sometimes hard to defend something I don't want to defend. I'm certainly not a supporter of Trump but band people are overreacting to the fact that he is president and I felt like this was a very controversial topic i had to bring up and discuss. Writing this blog post will help me write and support a position that I don't agree with during my timed writes in AP Lang and my future english assignments.
