If you use any form of social media or watch/read the news, then by now, you would have heard of global warming. If you don't know what global warming is, then I will provide you with an explanation. Basically, due to things such as energy production, we release carbon dioxide into the air. Unlike other particles that are already floating around in the air, carbon is able to retain more heat. Over the past few years, a massive amount of carbon has been released into the air and the entire Earth is starting to warm up as the heated carbon which surrounds the Earth has a greenhouse effect.
As of right now, basically every president believes in Global Warming and has acknowledged that it's an important issue that needs to be addressed. Our previous president, Barack Obama, was also a believer of Global Warming, and allowed the government to spend funds to fight against it. The problem that we have now is that Trump is going to remove all of the funding that the government previously had for Global Warming research and is planning to give it to the military department instead.
The United States produces the second most amount of carbon in the world, right behind China. Because of this, many would argue that the US has a large responsibility in working towards managing Global Warming, but we are now no longer able to. A major issue with this is that we are already experiencing the effects of Global Warming. It's not something that WILL happen and something that can be addressed and managed later. It's something that we must address NOW. The US pulling out from Global Warming prevention efforts will greatly slow the progress.
Now, we address the controversial details about this topic. Starting off, Donald Trump is already disliked by a large part of the US's population. Many people already see him as unintelligent, regardless of the fact that he was able to win the elections and become president. Donald Trump himself has stated several times that he doesn't believe that Global Warming is an actually problem. He thinks that China just made it up as a hoax to be able to make money. Of course saying something like this in any community with educated people won't result in positive results. By doing this, Trump has caused those who are already against him to dislike him even further, which continues to split our nation as the citizens of the United States have strong opinions in which they stand behind.
The second, and more controversial thing about having our Global Warming prevention efforts being defunded is that as long as we have no funding for it, Global Warming can only get worse. A massive amount of people support Global Warming prevention and want to fix the Earth, as we want to protect our damaged ecosystem and help it recover, but this is no longer possible. Ecosystems are being destroyed by the warmer temperatures and animals are dying. The warming waters and melting iceberg kill coral and polar bears. Many people are animal rights activists, so obviously, they will support global warming prevention.
Regardless of the fact that the majority of Americans believe in Global Warming and want to prevent it, Trump has taken all funding of it. This has resulted in a major public backlash and will further hurt Earth's atmosphere.
Progress: I feel that I DID use my writing skills in this blog post in an attempt to improve them, but I honestly feel like I got nowhere with this post. I included my own opinion as well as the opinion of the people in an attempt to analyze the article, but I got no where. Regardless of my progress, I feel like I would be able to comfortably have a conversation with someone about this topic.
Reflection: I already knew that I didn't have much to say about this topic as the problems were obvious, but I felt that it was an important topic that I had to bring up and address. I feel like it's sometimes okay to not make any progress, as there are challenges to getting better at anything. I should push myself to talk about topics that I don't have much to say about so I can think outside the box more often.
